About The Association
The Practical Martial Arts Association is an organisation, originating in Australia, aimed mostly at practitioners of Gendai schools (those formed after 1868) of Jujutsu (Jujitsu) and other arts, with an emphasis on practical application, especially (but not limited to) those useful in a law enforcement environment.
The association was formed on the 8th of February 2017 as the 'Jujutsukan Association' due to the background of the founding members. The Association later renamed as the Practical Martial Arts Association to better describe the Association to the broader martial arts community.
The aim of the Association is to create a genuinely useful organisation, free of unwanted politics, with a view to:
- Sharing resources, information, materials and contacts.
- Collaborating on historical research.
- Establishing a trustworthy and reliable network of like-minded practitioners.
- Creating a framework for bench-marking and quality control.
- Providing a pathway for development and improvement.
- Sharing knowledge and costs of associated logistical and compliance matters.
- Providing a home for the 'lost and floating' practical martial artists who wanted no part of most associations.
